Yiasou Restaurant

Yiasou Greek Restaurant was a client who wanted to place ads in the Georgia Strait. To my great joy, they wanted the ads to be funny, so I could do cartoons. They served a lot of lamb so the sheep studies came in handy for this – once you are confident you can draw something more or less realistically, it's easier to cartoon or caricature it. The top sketch was what accompanied the text in the ad that was run; the bottom was another idea they liked and wanted saved for a future ad. Alas, I don't have any copies of the final ads.
Unfortunately . . . the client became difficult to work with. First they asked for a discount on my fee and then asked for a number of workups they never used and never paid for. They wouldn't return my calls so I wrote them off. Then to my surprise several months later they surfaced again, wanting more drawings. By then I wasn't inclined to be ripped off again and refused the job. It was too bad because the work was really fun when they did pay.
