Safeway Co-worker
One of my first jobs when I moved to Vancouver was as a cashier at Safeway. You actually went to a training school for this, a classroom set up as a little checkout station with pretend groceries and a real cash register.
You had to memorize all the produce prices and I was utterly terrible at the job. I think I lasted less than six months. This woman worked there and would help me out when I forgot prices since she had them all memorized. She had me over for tea one afternoon and I took this portrait of her. (I remember being especially pleased with the reflection on the kettle).
