Warhorse
This was another of the large format graphite pieces. This particular one was in my second show at Catablanca bookstore on South Granville.
I also submitted it to an artist-curated show later in the year but was not accepted. It wasn't enough then (and I suspect is still the case) that you submit artwork itself, you also had to include an "Artist's Statement". People would write all kinds of deeply profound-sounding gobbledy gook to go with their stuff. (A friend of mine once told me she submitted a piece somewhere and couldn't think what to write so she used a random poem in place of an artist's statement. Trés mysterious. Her piece was accepted). Saying "I like drawing horses and buildings and there's too many idiots around declaring war" wouldn't exactly cut it so I didn't make any "Artist's Statement".
