The Guardian

I did a lot of illustrations and cartoons over the years for the Hospital Employees' Union newsletter, The Guardian. This was paid work. Working Design was the company that did the layout for The Guardian; the art director there was Kris Klaasen. Kris was a wonderful art director. We rarely even had to meet in person to discuss a job, most of the time we just discussed what was needed over the phone. He was very encouraging if I wanted to try something different and he always made me look good. This is the illo as it appeared in the published layout. It was a new "scratchy" style I did for a while, heavily influenced by Carel Moiseivitch.
