The Bus - Peacekeeping Forces
The Bosnian War was an armed conflict that took place in the former Yugoslavia during the years of 1992 and 1995. It was a bitter and vicious conflict that saw atrocities committed by all sides. (Who was accused of committing the most atrocities depended on whose side you were on) The Dayton Accords negotiated a peace settlement reached on Nov. 21, 1995, by the presidents of Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia, effectively ending the war and outlining a general framework for peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is not to say everybody kissed and made up. A huge amount of tension and rancor remained, so much so that a UN peacekeeping force was necessary for years after to keep the various factions from erupting into armed warfare all over again. My Faithful Reader served for six months during the war in 1993 and later almost 8 months during 2000.
