The Bus - Canada Day in Bosnia
What does a good Canadian UN peacekeeper soldier do when far from home in Bosnia on Canada Day? PLAY STREET HOCKEY!! [there are four panels here so scroll down]
"We had decided to do something uniquely Canadian for our confused but intrigued multi-national spectators. We were going to play ball hockey! Sticks, balls, and even a couple of goalie nets somehow made their way to Camp Butmir, Sarajevo in time for Canada Day and the return to our collective childhoods. We played on with such glee and conviction until, spontaneously and unscripted, someone yelled out, "CAR!" Although no car was seen, we all dutifully trotted off the road. The goalies shouldered their nets and followed suit. A few moments passed as we waited for the imaginary car to pass. Then again that voice: "GAME ON!" and we all trotted back. The goalies set their nets as quickly as they could and the game feverishly resumed on cue. Then we all collapsed in laughter. Our audience however, was even more confused than ever, so that crazy Canuck reputation was firmly intact."
