I was required to give a five minute presentation entirely in French for a university class once.  Five minutes is a LONG time to speak in another language so I decided my topic would be on Ronald Searle. Searle was an English artist renowned for his satirical cartoons. I had a series of his books "Searle's Cats" that had captions in French. I figured I would paint some large copies of these, repeat the captions and  eat up some of the five minutes just by putting the boards up and down.  So I did a bunch of panels and fell in love with his technique. This is a pretty accurate rendering of one of his pieces. The style later morphed into a different kind of 'cat' that will appear later in this blog. You can learn a great deal from other artists if you study them and try your hand at what they do.
