Senior Wedding
1979 PMT (photo mechanical transfer) acrylic paint
This is my mom and step dad on their wedding day July ? in Calgary. I'd asked them to put on a couple pair of retro sunglasses and pose for me. They were good sports (Dave especially). Dave was 66 and mom was 64. They had 18 years together before his death in 1998.
A PMT is what used to be a mainstay in the graphic arts industry. Artwork or copy destined to be made into plates for printing presses was photographed onto chemically coated paper, which was then combined with another sheet and run through a roller bath of developer. The result, once peeled apart, was rinsed and hung to dry. I must have done hundreds of these things for my own clandestine purposes (never give an artist unsupervised access to company equipment or materials) Below is an enlarged high contrast PMT of a colour photograph of mom and Dave. I added the paint just for fun.
