Out For a Walk
Our instructor Martin was always coming up with these novel ideas to make classes more interesting. One night, instead of having us go to the studios at Emily Carr he invited us to his artist loft in Gastown. Everybody could bring their favourite latest piece, we'd drink bad wine and critique each other. I brought this one and to my complete and utter astonishment, one of my fellow classmates asked to buy it. Would I sell it? Well, yes of course! And how much did I want for it? I did some fast mental calculations, trying to balance avarice with fairness to a fellow student and said "$150". I was again astonished when she agreed and the piece was sold.
