Life Drawing Class

Both Carel and Martin sometimes brought models into class for us to train our eyes for drawing. This was 'Ben' who sat for us in a dress suit jacket. (models were usually naked but Carel wouldn't ask elderly models to disrobe) He had a marvelous thick mane of pure white hair and could hold a sitting pose for quite some time.

Just to really torture us, Carel had Ben hold a pair of shears in one hand, which we had to draw. Drawing a hand holding scissors is surprisingly hard to do (as is drawing a person on a bicycle. Fortunately, Ben did not have a bicycle).
