Housebroken

This was a published piece. I was taking a cartooning night class at the time with Carel Moiseivitch who told us there was a call for submissions for  Wimmen's Comix, which was an underground comic put out by Last Gasp Publishing in Berkeley, California. The issue was "The International Politically Incorrect Fetish Issue" – an irreverent backlash against all the PC stuff going on at the time. (I include the front cover of that issue. I wonder how Last Gasp would respond to our current Cancel Culture?) So I submitted this and got the outside back cover which was a major coup because it meant I was in colour while the rest of the submissions were not. Carel got a piece in too, and I think she was a little annoyed I got the back cover. I never noticed until now but my character and the front cover character both wear some of the same SM gear which is a complete coincidence as nobody ever saw what anybody else was submitting. Joyce Farmer was head of Last Gasp and told me I should do a strip; I did a couple more panels but ran out of fresh ideas. None of this paid, of course.

This was the front cover of that issue
