I've always been intrigued by people who say they can't draw because if you give them the right materials and deliver the right amount of bullying/encouragement, they can surprise you with what they'll come up with. My mom drew this. She had been on an Elder Tour to Australia several years before, camping in the outback, so I gave her a sketchbook and her choice of drawing materials and told her to draw something about that trip. Oddly enough she chose charcoal. This was her interpretation of the tents, the bus they travelled in and how she thought she heard dingoes in the night. I was surprised that a) she filled the entire page and b) she completed this in a less than half an hour. No erasing, no fussing, just right out of her head with no hesitation. (Maybe it was the vodka tonic). I think it's delightfully uninhibited.
So my Faithful Readers, why don't you grab your drink of choice and make a drawing for me? I don't care what it is or how you did it or how bad you think it is and I won't use your name. Send me a drawing.
