Flower Fence

Spring 2026 Along Pacific Boulevard.
This particular stretch of road in Vancouver is an unlovely series of construction sites, new curbs and bike lanes, remnants of street peoples' homesteads and empty lots fenced off while they wait for the next building permit. Or, as I like to call them, 'Overbuilding Permits'. This particular bit caught my eye with the juxtaposition of the flowers and the forbidding, stern fence. I liked that the flowers stubbornly continue to bloom, even as the excavators approach. They're like the larks in John McCrea's poem 'In Flanders Fields'.
