Berlin Graffiti

Of all the places I've visited, Berlin has to be my favorite for graffiti. At its best, graffiti is a brilliant art form (and at its worst, just mindlessly stupid vandalism) Berlin had the most wonderfully done graffiti of any city I've visited.

Along the Berlin Wall. A portion of this structure was left up. The blank concrete was soon covered with the most wonderful artwork, much of it political.
And my favourite (we should have kissed to mimic the image but people were lined up to get their own photo taken so there was no time) The artwork is based on a photograph taken in 1979 during the 30th anniversary celebration of the German Democratic Republic’s foundation. Russian President Brezhnev is kissing the East German leader Eric Honecker. (Such displays were not uncommon in soviet bloc politics at the time) “My God, Help Me to Survive This Deadly Love” is the translation of the text. Artist: Dmitri Vrubel
